Hello all;

I see that there hasn't been much activity here since it's founding. To get things kicked off a bit, I thought I would introduce myself. I am not sure if this is the correct section for introductions, but if not, I guess the moderators will move it. LOL.

At any rate, my name is Dan, and I have recently moved to Tyler Texas. That is about 100 miles east of Dallas. I used to live in Orange Texas, which is about 100 miles east of Houston, and about 200 miles south of Tyler.

I have been interested in real and model trains as long as I can remember. My brother and I got a couple of 027 gauge train sets as kids, and along with our dad, we build a fairly large layout...at least for 5 and 6 year olds!

At any rate, my interests moved toward HO as they looked more realistic, and besides, that is what the big guys had. I had a few layouts in various states of construction throughout the years, but for some reason life seemed to always be in the way of railroading.

As the years flew by, the bug hit me again. After the kids grew up and left the house, I started another layout. This time moving kept getting in the way. At the moment, I live in an apartment, after moving a couple of months ago. The bride and I are looking for a place to buy, and when we do, one of the things I will be doing is starting on another layout.

I like the transition period, and most of my rolling stock mimics the era. I have a no brand name SP daylight steam engine, and a couple of GP9 high nose and a GP35 for power.

The line will be a branch line, loosely based in Mid America. It will use used locomotive power, and some of the previous road names might be showing through. I plan on using DCC, and running point to point, with several sidings in the smallish towns along the route. It will get it's payload from two main line intersections, one at a town on either end of the line.

I guess that is about it for now. I hope this forum starts to be one of the places folks go for camaraderie and to share info.

Have a great day,

Dan Harriman Cool
Tyler Texas
